What is edward heffron?

Edward "Babe" Heffron was a United States Army paratrooper who served in Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Heffron was born on May 16, 1923, in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Heffron participated in many key battles during World War II, including Operation Overlord (D-Day), Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions during the war.

After the war, Heffron returned to Philadelphia and worked as a truck driver. He later co-authored a book about his experiences in Easy Company called "Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends: Two WWII Paratroopers from the Original Band of Brothers Tell Their Story."

Heffron passed away on December 1, 2013, at the age of 90. He is remembered for his bravery and service during World War II, and his contributions to preserving the history of Easy Company.
